In recent days, we have learned some great news for the future of the Canadiens organization, as the verdict on Logan Mailloux's NHL eligibility has come in, and he has been given the green light by Gary Bettman.
More than two years after his controversial selection that caused a lot of ink to spill, we can officially say that all of this is now behind him, and the significant personal work he undertook to become a better person has paid off.
Being well supported by the Tricolore in his rehabilitation efforts, he has earned his forgiveness to finally be eligible to play in the world's best league. Moreover, in connection with this major news about the club's prospect, the excellent journalist Anthony Martineau republished a superb article on Mailloux from this winter, which has even more impact today.
The 2021 first-round pick delivered a powerful message to Canadiens fans, even surprisingly saying a few words in French.
"I want to thank all the Canadiens fans who have supported me for a year and a half and who have stuck with me. You have helped me. I know it hasn't always been easy, but I appreciate it very much. Now, I just want to bring the Stanley Cup back to Montreal."
- Logan Mailloux
The 20-year-old is grateful to his organization that never let him go, despite all the embarrassment his selection may have caused, and he knows how to make himself loved by even stating that he wants to win a Stanley Cup for Montreal.
This is truly a message we all love!
Mailloux also revealed why he speaks French, as we learn that his grandfather is Francophone, which explains his Québécois surname. He has also taken classes in the French language for a long time during his academic journey.
"My sister and I went to elementary school in French. In her case, she also did her secondary education in this language while it lasted until the eighth grade on my side. When I was drafted by the Canadiens, I immediately revisited my old lessons. I wanted it to come back quickly.
I want to be able to talk to all the Canadiens fans once in Montreal."
- Logan Mailloux
In short, in this excellent interview conducted by Martineau, we get to know one of the most promising talents of the Montreal organization better, and soon realize that he is a very kind and respectful person.
He even adds, in conclusion, that he believes in his chances to make the team this year, which shows a lot of confidence in himself, and mentions that he will be ready to fight to win a spot with the main club.
"I think my chances are good. It's definitely my goal. I want to show up at the camp next year and become an official member of this team. There will be tough competition, but it's the same every year: you have to fight to earn your spot." - Logan Mailloux
