MAJOR: Last-minute announcement concerning Alex Newhook of the Montreal Canadiens
As many fans worried about contract negotiations between the Montreal Canadiens and newcomer Alex Newhook, Anthony Martineau just revealed major information.
Indeed, according to his information, only a few details remain to be settled before an agreement is officially announced. He also mentions that the 22-year-old is expected to sign a contract in the coming days, likely early next week.
"An announcement regarding Alex Newhook's contract is expected to be made at the start of next week.
Only a few details remain to be ironed out." - Anthony Martineau
This is excellent news for the Tricolore as the forward could, undoubtedly, flourish in Montreal and thus become a real bargain for the organization.
Let's remember that according to information reported by Eric Engels of Sportsnet, Alex Newhook is expected to put his signature on a contract similar to that of Kirby Dach. It would therefore not be surprising if he signs a four-season contract at an annual salary of around three to four million dollars.
Alex Newhook was selected 16th in the 2019 draft, having scored 30 points in 82 games last season, while playing only 14 minutes per game on a second or third line.
