True to form, Martin St-Louis, once again, made a rather quirky comparison during his post-game press conference last night. Known for his out-of-the-ordinary statements, the head coach of the Montreal Canadiens surprised more than one when he was asked about Logan Mailloux's play.

Indeed, wanting to talk about the differences between the NHL and the OHL, Martin St-Louis compared the level of play in junior ranks to a game of checkers. A statement that undoubtedly brought smiles to several journalists present on the spot.

Yes, you read that right, a game of checkers!

"I think that in the junior ranks, players attack the opponent more instead of attacking the space. The National Hockey League, it's more of a game of chess compared to the junior league where it's more a game of checkers. Do you understand what I mean? There is much more chess involved. There are moments in a game where it's important to play checkers, and I know we have players who are capable of doing that, but the game of chess is much more important than the game of checkers." - Martin St-Louis

Wow! We love it!

We thus understand that Logan Mailloux will have to play less checkers, that is, better calculate the moments when he wants to take risks, and play more chess by sometimes playing in a simpler way.

Clearly, we can expect very entertaining press points throughout the season.
