Major NHL publication regarding Juraj Slafkovsky and Alex Newhook of the Montreal Canadiens
Last year, even though he was in his first season in the NHL, Juraj Slafkovsky was criticized for being slow on the ice. The Slovakian player had a hard time keeping up with the pace.
The situation is quite the opposite for Alex Newhook, who is considered a very fast forward, to the point where some thought he would be the fastest on the Habs.
As it turns out, that's not the case. According to new advanced statistics recorded through player jersey and puck chips, it has been revealed that Arber Xhekaj has the 6th hardest shot in the entire NHL.
What's surprising in terms of speed is that Slafkovsky is faster than Newhook, and by a significant margin. We're talking about 1.35 mph more for the 19-year-old (22.64 mph) in average speed.
His summer training allowed him to improve his lung capacity by 20%, which is exceptional. Additionally, he has officially lost 8 lbs, bringing his current weight to 230 lbs.
