Major Statement Regarding Matvei Michkov: we Now Understand why the Canadiens did Not Pick Him
Many fans were furious at the Canadiens' management for not selecting Matvei Michkov in the draft. After all, the organization is in dire need of offensive reinforcement and the Russian prodigy could have been a significant help in that department.
However, increasingly disturbing information continues to surface regarding Matvei Michkov's attitude, demonstrating that the Tricolore possibly made the right decision to finally draft the Austrian defender David Reinbacher.
Indeed, in the latest episode of the Spittin' Chiclets podcast, hosted by Ryan Whitney and Paul Bissonnette, a former teammate of the Russian forward made a major statement about him. He didn't hesitate to label Matvei Michkov as "trash," mentioning that he was arrogant and didn't hesitate to dismiss his teammates and coaches.
We really tried to give him a chance and to understand him, but we realized he's just t-r-a-s-h."
Yikes! Now we understand better why Kent Hughes didn't want to pick him at the fifth spot.
The general manager of the Canadiens has repeatedly mentioned that the organization wants to establish a certain culture within the Montreal team and, clearly, Michkov's attitude did not fit with it at all.
Meanwhile, David Reinbacher seems thrilled to be in Montreal, who is also known for his impeccable work ethic. Every time the 18-year-old speaks to the media, he displays a radiant smile. There's no doubt that the Tricolore have got their hands on a very promising defender who will continually strive to improve.
