Major announcement from the Montreal Canadiens regarding Kaiden Guhle: it will have a direct impact on Cayden Primeau
Arpon Basu mentioned it yesterday, the Canadiens had a decision to make before heading out for their Western road trip on Sunday. With only six defensemen currently with the team, a call-up was needed to have a spare.
The issue with this call-up is that the Canadiens can't have more than 23 players. According to Basu, the logical choice would have been to place Cayden Primeau on waivers or accelerate a transaction before Sunday.
"Primeau could be placed on waivers to make room. Ideally, when you leave for a long-distance trip, you'd like to have all the extras you can with you. In an ideal world, the Canadiens would like Primeau not to be there before Sunday," Basu stated.
Good news, however, as the Canadiens confirmed that Kaiden Guhle and Christian Dvorak will be traveling with the team, which is very good news for both players and for Primeau, who won't have to go on waivers.
Indeed, Guhle is getting closer to a return to play, as he was wearing a tinted visor in practice today. While there hasn't been official confirmation, a concussion would be highly likely in his case.
