According to informations provided by TSN's Pierre LeBrun, and as we mentioned last week, it appears that Kent Hughes has indeed put a key asset on the trade market.

While teams that have already been eliminated from the playoffs begin to plan their summer acquisitions, Hughes is said to be the first to start the process.

So the rumor that has been circulating for a few days has now been confirmed.

As reported by the famous insider LeBrun, it appears that four 2023 first-round draft picks are currently available on the trade market, including the one belonging to the Montreal Canadiens that was acquired from the Florida Panthers. This news is quite surprising.

The four first-round picks in question are located in the second half of the first round.

During his "Insider Trading" segment, LeBrun reported that his sources have indicated that the Montreal Canadiens' first-round pick in 2023, which was acquired from the Florida Panthers last season in the transaction involving Ben Chiarot, would be available on the trade market.

The Canadiens are looking to get in return a promising young player aged between 20 and 23 years old.

To the Panthers : Ben Chiarot

To the Habs : 1st round pick in 2023, 4th round pick in 2022, prospect Ty Smilanic

It is highly likely that there will be negotiations and dealings taking place behind the scenes in the NHL leading up to the 2023 draft, particularly in the offices of the Montreal team. Canadiens' general manager Kent Hughes has clearly expressed his desire to make a trade similar to the one involving Kirby Dach.
