Major trade in the upcoming weeks involving Sean Monahan: there is absolutely nothing set in stone
Sean Monahan's name is on everyone's lips right now. While we knew the veteran was good when he was healthy, we didn't realize how important he could still be to a team.
Indeed, it's the first time in several years that Monahan can spend the summer training instead of just undergoing rehabilitation. He's feeling in great shape for once, and it shows on the ice. He's simply the team's best forward, and if it weren't for Jake Allen's incredible performances, he would certainly be the best player in the early part of the season.
In an interview with Eric Engels, number 91 was transparent about the difficulties of recent years. He also reiterated his love for the Canadiens and shared an anecdote involving Cole Caufield when he arrived last summer.
«The whole organization welcomed me in. When I got traded, I got a ton of calls and texts. One of my first texts was actually from Cole (Caufield). I wasn't surprised, but I had never met him then. And for a young guy to step up and tell me good places to eat, good places to live and to help me out that way, that's the kind of organization this is. Everyone steps in, helps and has each other's back, and I'm really proud to be a part of the Canadiens.»

This speaks volumes about his love for the team and the bond that the players have with each other.
Many analysts have recently questioned the value Monahan will have if he remains healthy, and they all agree that it will be very high. But be careful.
The Canadiens, despite being in a rebuilding phase, need a veteran like Sean in their lineup, and the mutual affection between the player and the team is evident. An extension is far from ruled out, especially since Kent Hughes loves to build his team with good players who are also quality individuals.
