Major turnaround for the Canadiens: the next draft could take place in Montreal for the second time in three years
The NHL has not yet announced a date or location for the 2024 Draft. It's quite unusual not to know this at this time of the year. Las Vegas was the targeted location, but there seem to be technical issues.
According to Elliotte Friedman, there is another reason for the NHL's delay in this matter.
"Friedman at the intermission says NHL is still searching for a location for the 2024 Draft, league is also considering a format change similar to the NFL & NBA Draft, they don't have everyone at the location, just the prospects are there, teams stay home and make picks from there."

The Canadiens drafted first overall in 2022, in Montreal. According to what Chris Johnston reports, the League could do it again for the second time in three years.
However, a draft session without the teams, only the prospects, would spoil the spectacle and lack flavor. It remains to be seen if the executives will opt for this change, but personally, I believe it would take away much of the excitement for the fans.
