Since the start of training camp, many fans and journalists have been wondering who will complete the first line composed of Nick Suzuki and Cole Caufield.

Many hoped that Kirby Dach would be the player targeted for this position, having performed well with #14 and #22 last year. However, the head coach of the Montreal Canadiens, Martin St-Louis, confirmed that in an ideal world, the former Chicago Blackhawks player will helm the second line, at center.

"Martin St-Louis says he knows that the line of Kirby Dach, Nick Suzuki, and Cole Caufield works and they can always go back to that if necessary, but ideally, they want Dach to be at the center of his own line." - Priyanta Emrith

Thus, it can be inferred that Nick Suzuki and Kirby Dach will likely be the first two centers for the Canadiens, heading into the first game of the season against the Toronto Maple Leafs.

However, who will join the duo of Nick Suzuki and Cole Caufield on the first line?

Martin St-Louis will have several options as Josh Anderson, Alex Newhook, Sean Monahan, and Juraj Slafkovsky are currently vying for one of the last three spots within the team's top-6.

Although the chances are slim, could Joshua Roy spring a surprise and secure a spot with the Montreal Canadiens from the start of the season?

It will be very interesting to follow the performances of our players during the preseason games and to observe the different combinations that Martin St-Louis will want to try. One thing is for sure, there are only two weeks left before we officially get answers to all our questions!
