Martin St-Louis identifies the particular player responsible for the team's success
Who would have predicted that the Canadiens would be 7th in the NHL standings after eight games? Very few, if any.
With the injury announcements regarding Kirby Dach and David Savard, many expected the losses to pile up, but the players on the ice have shown resilience.
While many still believe that the team won't make the playoffs, the Canadiens are providing an exciting show all year long. This team never gives up, as demonstrated in the last two games.
During his press conference after the game, Martin St-Louis was asked about the reasons for his team's success. According to him, the 7th player plays a crucial role:
"One of the main reasons for our success is our fans and the atmosphere in the arena. It gives us confidence and energy. I think it's a group that loves each other and wants to go to war together."
Indeed, the 7th player (the fans) in Montreal is very important. The atmosphere is absolutely electric and it gives the players a boost. The last two victories are crucial for the upcoming week because the Canadiens are heading on the road for three games. While the fans won't be there in such large numbers, the players will do everything they can to make us proud upon their return to the Bell Centre.
