Matvei Michkov in Montreal? A journalist weighs in on the chances of seeing the Russian phenomenon with the Canadiens
Just 10 days away from the draft, fans are eagerly awaiting to know which player the Canadiens' management will select on June 28th. Moreover, according to numerous experts, Kent Hughes would actively be looking to move up a few ranks in the hopes of drafting an extremely talented center player (Adam Fantilli, Leo Carlsson, or Will Smith).
However, if the Canadiens' general manager is unable to make a trade, he could very well find himself facing a huge dilemma. Indeed, Matvei Michkov could be the last player of the Big Five available. Although the Russian is considered a generational player and possesses undeniable talent, his situation scares many general managers.
Will Kent Hughes select him at the 5th rank? According to Stéphane Leroux, it's not in the Canadiens' plans to select Matvei Michkov in a few days. He strongly believes that if Will Smith has already been drafted, Ryan Leonard or Dalibor Dvorsky will be the players targeted by the Canadiens.
