We have just learned some excellent news regarding Montreal Canadiens prospect David Reinbacher. Indeed, the 18-year-old defenseman has officially won the title of young player of the year in Switzerland, ahead of forward Simon Knak from HC Davos and defenseman Noah Delémont from HC Bienne.
David Reinbacher had an exceptional season with Kloten HC this year, being one of the most used players night after night. In addition to being simply dominant in his own territory, the Austrian made a very impressive offensive contribution with a tally of 22 points in 46 games.
By comparison, the Nashville Predators' star defenseman, Roman Josi, recorded a meager total of two goals and six assists in 35 games with Bern SC in his 18-year-old season.
One thing is for sure, we are greatly looking forward to seeing David Reinbacher at training camp which will start in a few weeks. The 5th overall pick in the last draft could seriously shake up management's plans and carve out a spot within the Canadiens' lineup.
