Patrick Roy finally breaks silence regarding a potential return to the NHL
Over the past few weeks, several experts have mentioned the possibility of Patrick Roy making a return to the NHL as a head coach next year. Indeed, the former Canadiens goaltender has been linked to numerous teams. However, the vast majority of teams that were looking for a coach have found their man for the 2023-2024 season.
The only two organizations that are still without a head coach are the New York Rangers and the Calgary Flames. Moreover, according to Elliotte Friedman, Ryan Huska would be the favored candidate to get the job with the Flames, while John Hynes and Peter Laviolette would be ahead in the race to be the next head coach of the Rangers.
The chances of seeing Patrick Roy in the NHL next year are therefore becoming increasingly slim.
The head coach of the Quebec Remparts recently gave an excellent interview to Dave Stubbs of NHL.com to discuss his future and the possibility of his returning to the NHL. Even though he would like to get a second chance, Patrick Roy admitted that the way he left the Avalanche has had negative repercussions on his reputation throughout the league.
I know I made some poor choices. I know the way I left and everything I did can affect the way I'm seen today. I have to live with that.

Listening to these comments, it seems less and less likely that Patrick Roy will make a return to the NHL. Will he officially retire? Will he be back with the Remparts in 2023-2024?
We'll have to wait to get a definitive answer to this!
