He has told the Winnipeg Jets that he doesn't wish to reach an agreement with them, even though he technically has one season left to play before becoming an unrestricted free agent.
While the Montreal Canadiens are undoubtedly keeping a close eye on this case, it was clear for Kent Hughes that he wouldn't empty his team to acquire the forward, especially considering that the Jets are backed into a corner in this situation.
However, it could greatly complicate things for Hughes and the Habs, as Dubois' camp has just submitted a list of 5 or 6 teams where he would be willing to sign an 8-year contract extension.
Of course, Montreal is one of them, but the fact that there is now more than one team in the race could affect his next destination.
It's possible that all the teams included in Dubois' list neither have the cap space nor the resources to meet Winnipeg's demands.
Nevertheless, the Canadiens are not the only ones pursuing the 24-year-old player, and everything indicates that a trade will take place before the draft on June 28th.
The coming days promise to be tumultuous in the PLD case.
