RUMOR: A trade with the Flyers for the 5th pick could possibly be on the table with the Canadiens

Renowned reporter Frank Seravalli has just mentioned some very big news involving the Philadelphia Flyers.

For a few days now, rumors about the team's GM, Daniel Brière's, strong interest in Russian phenomenon Matvei Michkov have been growing. It now seems almost certain that if Michkov were to slide to the seventh overall pick, he would definitely become a member of the Flyers.

However, the young player's potential drop is less certain than anticipated, as he will meet several top-10 teams in the coming hours, including the Canadiens.

Seravalli revealed that the Flyers organization would be very interested in Michkov and would even be willing to move up in the draft to get him.

"Frank Seravalli on the DFO Rundown podcast says he thinks the Flyers are interested in moving up in the draft for Michkov. I think what they're trying to do is take their 7th and 22nd pick, and whatever is necessary, to then see if they can move up to the 4th or 5th overall."

Wow! Brière seems more determined than ever to add a possible generational talent in Michkov to his team.

Given that the Canadiens hold the 5th overall pick, there is a very good chance that an offer like the one brought up by Seravalli will be on Kent Hughes's table.

Would you trade the 5th overall pick for the 7th and 22nd draft selections?

In my opinion, if the Tricolore's plan is not to draft Michkov, they must absolutely make the trade. In this way, the CH could end up with Ryan Leonard, David Reinbacher, Zach Benson, or Dalibor Dvorsky, in addition to getting another first-round pick.

If Hughes is looking to make another home run, he could then pair his 22nd and 31st picks to make another selection in the top-15 of the draft.

Quite frankly, everything could hinge on whether or not to choose Matvei Michkov with the 5th overall pick.
