Indeed, she mentioned that the Capitals' former first round pick in 2022, Ivan Miroshnichenko, has terminated his contract with Omsk Avangard in the KHL to join Washington next season.
The 19-year-old forward collected three goals and one assist in 23 games in the KHL this season. Miroshnichenko also played 12 games in the MHL where he amassed an impressive total of ten goals and four assists with Omskie Yastreby. Therefore, the Russian is expected to be at the Capitals' training camp next September.
However, the fact that the forward was able to terminate his contract so easily raises the question of whether Matvei Michkov could do the same once he is drafted on April 28th.
If the Russian is able to join his new team immediately, as he recently signed a three season contract with SKA St. Petersburg, it could have a very important impact on his draft ranking.
One thing is certain, many general managers will be very happy to hear this news!
