Significant development in the negotiations between the Oilers and the Canadiens for the trade of a goaltender
It's been a few weeks now that we've been hearing about the Oilers' interest in one of the Canadiens' three goalies. Renowned insider Elliotte Friedman keeps us updated, and in recent days, he reported that all three Canadiens goalies could be of interest to Edmonton.
The Oilers have been present at Canadiens' games, observing all three goalies in action. There seems to be new developments in their enthusiasm.
Friedman talking Oilers interest in Habs goalies (32TP): "The Oilers were there to see all 3 Montreal goalies play. They saw them all.. I think Allen is the least likely of the 3...I do think those are two of the guys Edmonton is looking at (Montembeault & Primeau)"
Given that Montembeault seems to be part of the Canadiens' future, the chances of seeing Cayden Primeau move to Edmonton are more likely, if a trade happens between the two teams.
According to Friedman, players increasingly have NTC today, and Edmonton is not a preferred destination. This complicates things for them. The Oilers were really hoping that Campbell would regain his confidence in the AHL, but that's not the case at the moment.
