The young defender for the Montreal Canadiens, Lane Hutson, no longer needs introduction among hockey enthusiasts.

He is one of the most promising prospects in the organization, and we can't wait to see him make the jump to the professionals, likely after his next college season.

Drafted 62nd in the 2022 draft, the 19-year-old defenseman is making eyes widen because of his immense potential. If he had been taller than 5 feet 8 inches and only 150 pounds at the time of being selected in the NHL, it is clear that he would never have slipped to the second round.

Some experts believe that in terms of talent alone, Hutson was a top-10 caliber prospect in his class.

In short, the Tricolore found a gem in the late second round, and the organization is about to reap the benefits of this choice.

Indeed, as the U.S. under-20 team is preparing its lineup for the next World Junior Championship, it was revealed that Hutson has gained a significant amount of weight since his draft.

In fact, according to the information reported, he would now weigh 175 pounds, or 25 pounds more than a year ago. He would also have grown an inch, while some sources even talk about two inches. He would therefore currently measure between 5 feet 9 and 10 inches.

Of course, this is great news for the Canadiens, as the young man continues to work on his physique, in order to be as ready as possible for the NHL.

With another season in the NCAA to play, he could certainly gain another five to ten pounds, which would equal the measurements of Quinn Hughes, who is 5 feet 10 inches and 180 pounds.

We look forward to following his exploits during his second season with Boston University.
