Surprise in the NHL: twenty-three players, including three former Canadiens, are placed on waivers
Over the past few hours, numerous NHL teams have made certain adjustments in anticipation of the upcoming season, resulting in several roster moves. Indeed, twenty-three players, including three former Montreal Canadiens, have seen their names placed on waivers.
Among this list, there is a huge surprise as forward Denis Gurianov, who had signed a one-year deal with the Nashville Predators this summer, is now available. After collecting only 17 points in 66 games last year, the 12th overall pick in the 2015 draft could likely start the year in the AHL.
Apart from the Russian forward, defensemen Kale Clague (2021-2022) and Cale Fleury (2019-2020) are the other two players placed on waivers, who could potentially move in the next few hours.
Here are all the players placed on waivers:
Boston Bruins: Jesper Boqvist, Oskar Steen, and Jakub Zboril
Buffalo Sabres: Brandon Biro, Kale Clague, and Riley Stillman
Columbus Blue Jackets: Trey Fix-Wolansky
Colorado Avalanche: Jack Ahcan and Brad Hunt
Edmonton Oilers: Cam Dineen, Philip Kemp, Brad Malone, and Calvin Pickard
Los Angeles Kings: Tyler Madden
New Jersey Devils: Shane Bowers, Justin Dowling, Tyce Thompson, and Max Willman
Nashville Predators: Denis Gurianov and Jachym Kondelik
Seattle Kraken: Chris Driedger, Cale Fleury, and John Hayden Furthermore, there are notable first-round picks, such as Jakub Zboril and Shane Bowers. Selected 13th overall in the 2015 draft, defenseman Jakub Zboril has never lived up to the expectations placed on him, playing only 76 games in the NHL since his selection.
