According to several well-informed sources in the hockey community, including Frank Seravalli and Andy Strickland, well-known players will receive severe suspensions from the NHL due to their reprehensible actions. Both men have indicated that an announcement is imminent and that the identity of the players involved will finally be revealed.
Approximately two weeks ago, the excellent Martin Leclerc mentioned that it was only a matter of days before a resolution would finally be known, even suggesting that law enforcement authorities were preparing to file criminal charges against the five Team Canada players involved in the collective assault.
However, all signs suggest that fans and NHL general managers will finally get an answer soon. Given that league officials already know the identity of the players involved, it would be absurd to allow them to participate in their team's training camps in less than two weeks.
Furthermore, if some players were to be absent for personal reasons during the preseason, speculation would be uncontrollable, and it is clear that the NHL wants to avoid such a scenario. Therefore, we can expect a final verdict to be delivered in the coming days, as many sources indicate that an announcement will be made before the start of training camps.
One thing is certain: we are eagerly anticipating the resolution of this matter once and for all!
