Indeed, the group led by businessman Michael Andlauer, a minority shareholder of the Montreal Canadiens, just recently acquired the Ottawa Senators for over $950 million. Moreover, many experts believe that the team's new owner will want to make a clean sweep to bring a breath of fresh air to the organization and thus enable his new team to qualify for the playoffs next year.
Furthermore, according to Darren Dreger from TSN, Michael Andlauer knows Patrick Roy very well, having met him for the position of general manager of the Canadiens when the team was looking for a successor to Marc Bergevin. If the new owner of the Senators decides to fire Pierre Dorion and DJ Smith, it wouldn't be surprising for the former member of the Quebec Remparts to become a prime target to take the position of head coach of the Ontario team.
Of course, we will have to wait and see what direction the new owner of the Senators will want to take before an official announcement is made. However, we are entitled to question the possibility of the Quebec native making a return to the NHL with the Sens next season.
Many people seem to be in favor of this proposal, and it would be very pleasant to see Patrick Roy with the Habs' great rival. Imagine a Canadiens-Senators duel with Martin St-Louis and Patrick Roy behind the bench!
