The worst is confirmed for David Savard, as the Canadiens make an emergency recall of defenseman Gustav Lindstrom
Yesterday, David Savard had the most courageous presence of the season. The defenseman blocked multiple shots while on the penalty kill and remained on the ice despite an obvious hand injury and a missing skate blade, preventing him from skating.
After that shift, he went straight to the locker room and didn't return to the game. We were holding our breath for Tuesday's game against the New Jersey Devils, and it seems our concerns were valid.
Indeed, the Canadiens have just made an emergency recall of Gustav Lindstrom. Why him? Simply because he is a right-handed defenseman. Mattias Norlinder deserved a call-up, but it's quite evident that the recall is to compensate for Savard's loss, who is also a right-handed defenseman.
We still don't know the severity of Savard's injury, but with three more games this week, we're expecting the worst. It's a significant blow to the team.
To be continued...
