There's no doubt that the general manager of the Ottawa Senators, Pierre Dorion, will need to complete a transaction quickly if he wants to be able to offer a contract extension to young Shane Pinto before the start of the season.

Furthermore, according to multiple sources, Quebecer Mathieu Joseph is the player likely to leave the organization soon, who currently earns a salary of 2.9 million dollars for the next three years.

To that effect, in the past few hours, the excellent Marco D'Amico suggested a very interesting trade basis on Twitter, involving the Laval-native forward and the Montreal Canadiens.

«Just out of curiosity, if Ottawa was willing to offer a 2nd round pick in 2024 and Mathieu Joseph for a player like Jesse Ylönen or Michael Pezzetta, would you do it?

The Senators need to free up some money, and the Canadiens need their roster to remain intact without adding a contract.» - Marco D'Amico

If you were in Kent Hughes' shoes, would you make this trade?

According to a poll posted on Twitter, in which over 2000 fans gave their opinion, just over 70% of respondents would accept this trade.

Mathieu Joseph, 26 years old, was drafted in the 4th round by the Tampa Bay Lightning in 2015. The former Sea Dogs of Saint John forward tallied 3 goals and 15 assists (18 points) in 56 games, notably scoring twice during the pre-season game against the Tricolore last night.
