We know that the GM likes young promising players who haven't yet made their mark in the NHL, and with the injuries to Kirby Dach and Alex Newhook, he absolutely needs to make a personnel move, whether it's through a trade or a call-up.
The problem is that no one, except Joshua Roy, fits the profile of the player he's looking for, and Roy isn't ready to make the jump to the NHL. Kent Hughes would be turning to the Detroit Red Wings and their young forward Jonatan Berggren.
Whether in the Swedish Elite League or the AHL, Berggren is flirting with a point per game between the ages of 19 and 21. He also has 17 goals and 31 points in 73 NHL games.
Not only did Pagnotta link him to the Canadiens, but he hasn't mentioned any other team since he became available from Steve Yzerman on Monday. It could become a very good acquisition for Hughes, who loves this type of player.
