Transaction involving Sean Monahan: Kent Hughes' demands are revealed
There are several unresolved matters with the Canadiens, and as the trade deadline approaches in less than two months, two veterans are expected to, barring a surprise, leave the team.
This is indeed the case for Jake Allen and Sean Monahan. It's clear that Jake is the third goalie on the roster and is on the market. Teams are not in a hurry to pay the price right now, but come March, it will be a different story.
As for Sean Monahan, we learned last week that there was an agreement between Hughes and him for a trade. In a press conference this morning, Kent mentioned that it's possible for number 91 to sign a contract extension, but there's a much higher chance that he will be traded.
Regarding this, insider David Pagnotta revealed the GM's demands. It will be a first-round or second-round pick with a prospect.
Pagnotta continues to say that it's certain Monahan will be traded before March 8. The timing is perfect with his injury-free season, his stats, and his very manageable salary.
