Following the elimination of the Laval Rocket, several interesting press conferences took place, confirming many upcoming changes within the Canadiens organization.
On one hand, Rafaël Harvey-Pinard and possibly Jesse Ylönen are expected to leave the Rocket to officially join the main team.
Also, according to all likelihood, two Laval veterans will not be returning to the team next year, namely Danick Martel and Corey Schueneman, who has played a few games with the Habs in recent years.
In connection with the many departures from the Rocket's lineup, the team's game announcer, Anthony Marcotte, outlined the young players who should join the Laval Rocket next season.
In light of this article, the Canadiens' AHL team will undergo a solid rejuvenation, which is absolutely perfect for the fans.
"A lot of water will still flow under the bridges before the next season begins in October, but it is highly likely that at least five rookies will be part of Houle's lineup. Logan Mailloux, Joshua Roy, Riley Kidney, Jared Davidson, Jakub Dobes, Miguel Tourigny, and Jayden Struble should be part of the group of newcomers.
To this list, we can add Emil Heineman, excellent in the last stretch of the season upon his arrival from Sweden, and potentially Sean Farrell, whose position is not guaranteed in Montreal next season. Filip Mesar will also be eligible to play in the AHL, although a return to the Kitchener Rangers in the Ontario Hockey League is more likely in his case. Oliver Kapanen, a second-round pick in 2021, could also be among the options," said Anthony Marcotte. Adding to this, the presence of several good veterans such as Nicolas Beaudin, Anthony Richard, Joël Teasdale, Brandon Gignac, as well as other promising young players already in the Rocket lineup like William Trudeau, Mathias Norlinder, Gianni Fairbrother, and Jan Mysak.
Other important decisions will need to be made during the summer, as several Rocket players will soon become free agents. These players provided good services to head coach Jean-François Houle, including Mitchell Stephens, Lucas Condotta, Pierrick Dubé, and Peter Abbandonato.
For the first time in many years, the Laval Rocket's lineup will be filled with young talents who could potentially all play in the NHL one day. The future is promising, and the farm team will be particularly exciting to follow in the coming years.
