It was last night that the NHL had planned to have all 32 teams in action, a very rare occurrence, with 16 games, all played 15 minutes apart.

Of course, there was a lot of action. However, two sequences grabbed everyone's attention, as chilling scenes occurred.

In the matchup between the Pittsburgh Penguins and the Dallas Stars, rookie John Ludvig, playing in his first career game, delivered a powerful check to Radek Faksa.

However, it was the young player who remained lying on the ice, completely dazed, even unconscious for a moment. It's hard to understand how it happened by watching the replay, as there doesn't appear to be any head contact.

Ludvig eventually got back up with the help of his teammates and was very unsteady as he returned to the locker room.

The second scene occurred in the game between the Boston Bruins and the Chicago Blackhawks. Jakub Lauko took a skate to the face, near the eye. It was a very concerning scene, but he had the good reflex to head directly to his team's bench for treatment.
