One of the hot topics of the summer was Trevor Zegras' contract extension with the Anaheim Ducks. The star player missed almost the entire training camp, directly impacting his challenging start to the season.

By refusing to reach a long-term agreement with Zegras and taking a significant amount of time to sign him, the Ducks demonstrated that he might not be as crucial to the team. The player didn't feel valued appropriately, and this sentiment has translated into his performances. If he eventually requests a trade, it wouldn't be surprising.

During an appearance on BPM Sports this morning, Renaud Lavoie shared his opinion that the Canadiens would have treated a young star player much better.

"Thank goodness the Canadiens don't treat their players (like Cole Caufield) the way the Ducks treated Trevor Zegras, he's just saying it like it is," said Renaud Lavoie.

And he's right. Cole Caufield is going through a tough time, but he will bounce back and soon be a boon for the team. Kent Hughes has never hesitated to reach agreements with him for eight years.

Many rumors linked Zegras to the Canadiens this summer, especially due to the strong connection with Cole Caufield and Martin St-Louis. Could it happen in the coming months/years? The future will tell, but it would undoubtedly be a significant move by Kent Hughes.
