Upcoming transaction for the Montreal Canadiens: We better understand why goaltenders are in high demand
The Twitter account 'The Habitant' has released some very revealing statistics on the Montreal Canadiens' first quarter of the season. We can clearly see what is lacking and what is going well.
Here are the curtain-raiser statistics:
Point%: 24th
Points: 25th
Corsi: 27th
Goal Share: 14th
Expected Goal Share: 30th
Save Percentage: 5th
PDO: 7th
It's quite clear that the goaltenders are stealing the spotlight, and the Canadiens are still opportunistic in their attack.
We better understand why all three goaltenders are in high demand and why Kent Hughes is taking his time. Not only does he want to make the best decision for the future of the club, but he also wants to get the best possible return, given the statistics of his goaltenders.
As for the offense, it's a good thing that the defensemen are productive because the numbers would be even lower. Players like Josh Anderson need to find a way to score goals regularly.
