Guhle is currently the Canadiens' top young defenseman, while Zegras is still finding his game with the Ducks.
So, we would be trading a proven asset for a wildly talented player who has had some rough patches. It's far from unanimous if we put it to a vote.
However, the proposal involves two other players, and that's where it gets interesting. We keep talking about the Canadiens' 5th overall pick on June 28, which must absolutely be a forward. But why not a defenseman?
Indeed, the plans are to select Ivan Demidov or Cayden Lindstrom, both of whom have been plagued by serious injuries, including a herniated disc for Lindstrom.
Meanwhile, Kaiden Guhle has already had several concussions in his young career.
So, the Canadiens could trade Guhle for Zegras and then draft a defenseman, according to Marc-Olivier Beaudoin.
Dickinson is a very solid young defenseman with a bright future ahead. He will surely play significant minutes in the NHL one day.
Personally, I love Guhle, but I must admit I'm torn with this proposal. If it were really on the table and I were Kent Hughes, I wouldn't know whether to accept or decline.
What about you? Do you prefer the duo of Zegras and Dickinson or Guhle and Lindstrom/Demidov?
