He's a very tough and hard-to-play-against defenseman who can drop the gloves and knows how to play hockey. A rare commodity.
The Canadiens have no intention of trading him, but in Los Angeles, they believe his value would be much lower.
According to Austin Stanovich, the Kings should have traded Arthur Kaliyev for Xhekaj.
This trade offer is practically insulting. Yes, I'd like to give Kaliyev a chance in Montreal, and yes, he has interesting potential, but he doesn't have the value of Arber, not even close.
Moreover, comparing him to Joel Edmundson in terms of role is nonsense. Edmundson is an honest defenseman, but never as good as Arber, and less tough due to his back injuries.
To get back to Kaliyev, another much more logical proposition is circulating involving Emil Heineman. It seems there is indeed some smoke in this case, but it certainly won't be for Xhekaj.
