With the Canadiens' choice of Ivan Demidov in the last draft, we sometimes tend to forget that Kent Hughes had another first round pick.

At 21st place, the general manager of the Habs chose center Michael Hage who played for the Chicago Steel in the USHL.

This season, the young prospect from Mississauga, Ontario made the jump to the American university level and we can say that things are going really well for him with seven points in six games with the University of Michigan team.

As reported by the site Behind the scenes .com, we see that the 18-year-old young man is full of talent and he has enormous potential for the future of the Canadiens.

However, former Canadiens recruiter Grant McCagg was on the Recruits Draftcast podcast and declared that the Canadiens' second pick in 2024 is already prepared to play in the Bettman circuit.

«Michael Hage already has the talent to play in the NHL. »- Grant McCagg

This is a statement that may please CH supporters.

But it should be noted here that despite McCagg's encouraging words, the fact remains that the latter still believes that the Canadiens hope must continue his development adequately and not rush his arrival among the professionals.

It will therefore be interesting to follow its evolution throughout the 2024-2025 season.
