Canadiens prospect Yevgeni Volokhin has been sensational over the last three years in the MHL, the junior league in Russia where Ivan Demidov played last year.
We're talking about save percentages of 0.931, 0.938, and 0.927, along with keeping a goals-against average below 2, except for one year at 2.12.
He is excellent, he's 19 years old, and he has just been traded to join the KHL with HC Sochi. He will be the backup to Sergei Ivanov, but don't write him off too quickly.
So he is the third prospect of the Canadiens who could play in the KHL this season, as noted by TVA Sports.
Igor Shesterkin had the same type of development. This gives you an idea of what Volokhin could become. He is on track to be the next great goalie from his country, a breeding ground for excellent goalies for several years.
If Yevgeni Volokhin really stands out in the KHL, expect him to shake things up with the Canadiens. We hear a lot about Jacob Fowler and Jakub Dobes, but Volokhin can also do well and surprise.
