Another defenseman on the Canadiens' radar in the first round? Details
The Canadiens have a very promising young defense. This was the case last year, and they still chose defenseman David Reinbacher.
Even though potential future star forward Matvei Michkov was available, Kent Hughes and his team opted for another defenseman, which caused quite a stir.
This year, even though the need for a forward still exists and the Canadiens are likely to select between 5th and 7th overall, fans are concerned that the first-round pick might once again be a defenseman.
According to Marc Antoine Godin and Arpon Basu, that won't happen.
"I'm quite confident that even if there is a good defenseman still available, the Canadiens will choose what they probably consider the best forward still available in the draft."
To be honest, the Canadiens simply don't have a choice but to select the best forward available at their selection range.
Additionally, Kent Hughes needs to make a good acquisition at this position, as he has done in the past two years with Kirby Dach and Alex Newhook.
