Big announcement from the Montreal Canadiens regarding transactions: Kent Hughes will meet with the media around 3 p.m
We are already at the NHL trade deadline day, and the Canadiens, although in selling mode, are relatively quiet. It's a bit of a copy/paste from last year, but it must be admitted that the available veterans are not very enticing.
Indeed, the two players available were Sean Monahan and David Savard, and even then, it's not clear for Savard. Tanner Pearson and Joel Armia could be on the move, but they are not high on teams' priority lists.
Whether we witness a surprise or not, Kent Hughes' explanations will be very promising. We will have the chance to hear his perspective as he holds a press conference shortly after 3:00 today.
"Habs will not practice today after returning home from their 4-game road trip.
GM Kent Hughes will hold his post-deadline media availability later this afternoon once the 3pm ET trade deadline passes (exact time TBA)" - Via Priyanta Emrith
We will, therefore, learn more about his activities or inactivity in the last hours. It is worth noting that one trade has been completed so far, the exchange of Jan Mysak for Jacob Perreault.
