Marc Bergevin made a major trade with the Nashville Predators involving Shea Weber and PK Subban.
Weber quickly became the team's captain, and the rest is history.
He stopped playing due to injuries after a few good seasons in Montreal and a Stanley Cup Final appearance.
The towering defenseman is expected to be inducted into the Hockey Hall of Fame one day, but he will be there as a member of the Predators, where he spent most of his career.
Things could have been very different, as he was available to the Canadiens at the 40th pick in 2003.
Scout Elmer Benning worked for the Canadiens at the time and tried hard to convince Bob Gainey to select Weber, but Gainey chose Cody Urquhart instead.
Don't recognize the name? That's because Urquhart never played for the Canadiens.
Gainey later apologized to Benning and listened to him in 2005, when Benning strongly advised drafting Carey Price at the 5th pick.
We know how that turned out, but imagine if both players had spent their entire careers with the Canadiens!
