Bye bye Logan Mailloux and welcome elite forward? It's getting complicated
Inevitably, Kent Hughes will have to make decisions and trading a defenseman is part of that.
Currently, there are 12 defensemen who could theoretically play in the NHL or at least compete for a spot next season. That's too many.
But to receive, you have to give, and among the best, Logan Mailloux's name keeps coming up.
Here's a proposal to acquire a forward with elite potential, involving the young Mailloux.
5th overall pick is not an option.

Attention, this trade might seem enticing at first glance, but Oliver Kapanen is making significant progress and specializes in an area that the Canadiens desperately need at forward.
Indeed, the young Swede scores many goals by camping in front of the opposing goalie. He becomes very effective, somewhat reminiscent of his compatriot Tomas Holmstrom in his prime with the Red Wings.
We saw this at the World Championship, and his end of the season, including the playoffs in the Liiga, speaks for itself.
Additionally, Logan Mailloux has been very solid in Laval and shows promise in the NHL. Making this trade would not be without risk.
Martin Necas has the potential to become the Canadiens' best forward in his first season in Montreal, which is very encouraging.
Time will tell what Kent Hughes plans to do, but ultimately, some defensemen will have to go, and I'd be surprised if the top 4, consisting of Logan Mailloux, Kaiden Guhle, David Reinbacher, and Lane Hutson, remains intact.
