If there's one trade that didn't sit well with everyone, it's this one. Marc Bergevin traded a Norris Trophy winner for one of the NHL's best defensemen and leaders.
Even to this day, many fans still feel nostalgic about PK leaving. Personally, I would have liked to keep him, but when I found out Weber was coming in return, it softened the blow for me.
Now, with Weber having not played for three years, he's eligible for the Hockey Hall of Fame in his first year, and he will be there!
He'll be in great company with his former general manager in Nashville, David Poile, as well as Jeremy Roenick, Pavel Darsyuk, Colin Campbell, Natalie Darwitz, and Krissy Wendell-Pohl.
It's a strong class, and the former Canadiens captain, despite never winning the Stanley Cup, will enter the Hall of Fame in style.
This sets a good precedent for what may come next year with Carey Price, as he too will have completed three years without playing at the professional level.
While neither man has officially announced retirement due to their contracts, they will forever be hockey immortals, both for the Canadiens and the NHL.
