The Canadiens finished 31st in the NHL three years ago, then 28th the following two years, and rumors have been rampant about bringing in an experienced coach to support Martin St-Louis.

When looking at just the numbers, it seems like the progress is minimal or even nonexistent. However, watching the games and the performances of certain players reveals that the progress is real.

Indeed, both young players and veterans are progressing well, and things are moving in the right direction. The seasons of Juraj Slafkovsky, Cole Caufield, and Nick Suzuki have been impressive.

We must also not forget the veterans who have reached new personal bests, such as Michael Matheson, Joel Armia, and Samuel Montembeault.

In short, the Canadiens are heading in the right direction, and for this reason, there should be no change in the coaching staff.

"It's also in May and June that coaches are generally appointed and/or replaced in professional hockey. At least, those who did not lose their jobs during the season.

With the Montreal Canadiens, everything indicates that there will be no change behind the bench and that Martin St-Louis, Alex Burrows, Trevor Letowski, Stéphane Robidas, and Éric Raymond will all be back next season." - Maxime Truman

This is very good news. Alex Burrows has been the most frequently criticized and involved in rumors, but looking at the power play in the second half of the season, it's very respectable.

We must not forget that the Canadiens are a very young team and that it is normal for it to take some time before the results show in the standings.

The important thing is that the players continue to progress, as they are currently doing.
