We were waiting for the verdict on David Reinbacher's injury, and the Canadiens have just provided an important update.

The young defenseman underwent surgery and will be sidelined for about 5 to 6 months, which is a disaster.

We can agree that we don't wish this kind of injury or absence on anyone, but for a young player who is in the midst of progressing, it's really terrible.

He will miss an entire year of hockey development. Sure, he can train, but he won't play enough games and he could arrive with the Canadiens only a year later.

This is a tough start for him in North America. He will have a very long rehabilitation process and he might return in the final moments of the season, or perhaps even miss it entirely, depending on his recovery.

We really hope he gets back in shape quickly and, most importantly, stays healthy for a long time afterward. If we take away the hockey player whose rights belong to the Montreal Canadiens, there's a 19-year-old young man who will have to live with the complications of this injury for the rest of his life.
