It's now confirmed for Kent Hughes and the Canadiens
We were eagerly awaiting certain results in the NHL, and the verdict is now in for Kent Hughes and the Canadiens.
With a 5-2 victory, the Arizona Coyotes officially moved ahead of the Canadiens in the overall standings, guaranteeing Kent Hughes the 5th-best lottery ticket.
Additionally, the Canadiens cannot draft beyond 7th place now, which is excellent news.
Before Tuesday night's game against the Red Wings at the Bell Centre, the Canadiens and the Coyotes were neck and neck in the standings. With an overtime point, the Canadiens moved ahead of them.
If the Coyotes had lost in regulation last night, the Canadiens would have had the 6th lottery ticket, but that won't be the case.
So we can thank the Coyotes for the second year in a row, as they finished just outside the top 5 thanks to a win in their last game.
