Indeed, the Quebecer did not have a very good season last year, and he is injured more often than not. It's really too bad, because he had an excellent baptism in the NHL and he was even nicknamed the "Swiss Army knife" by Martin St-Louis.
When your coach tells you that you are the versatile player of the team, it's quite revealing. The problem is that while he is on the sidelines, other youngsters are pushing very hard and that could sound like the end of RHP in Montreal.
Alex Barré-Boulet is suffering the same fate, he who has just been waived to finally join the Laval Rocket.
Joshua Roy was also sent back to the Laval Rocket, and Patrik Laine is not even back with the team yet. Imagine when RHP comes back.
There simply won't be room for him and I agree with Tony Marinaro. As much as I love RHP as a person and a player, Emil Heineman and Oliver Kapanen have brighter futures in the NHL.
That's how much he's appreciated as a person, but his on-ice abilities are limited. RHP can do everything, but it's not enough on a contending team.
Unless Kent Hughes and Martin St. Louis are making moves barring a huge upset or facing multiple injuries, RHP will most likely be put on waivers or traded when he returns from injury.
