It would now be confirmed for Lane Hutson and the Canadiens
Lane Hutson finished his season in the NCAA on Thursday evening when Boston University was eliminated from the Frozen Four. He is now free to sign with the Canadiens.
He could still play in the NCAA next season, so nothing is guaranteed. For Kent Hughes, even though signing his contract three games before the end of the season represents a significant loss, he must do it to ensure they keep him on their team.
Lane has dominated the NCAA during his two years, and he has reached another stage of his career. He really needs to sign with the Canadiens.
According to insider Elliotte Friedman, that is precisely his intention, and an official announcement from the Canadiens is expected in the next few hours.
"And to leave any other doubt, @FriedgeHNIC said Hutson is ready to sign." - HFTV
This is excellent news for the Canadiens and their fans! Let's remember that even if Lane doesn't join the team and play any games, he will still use up the first year of his three-season contract.
We still hope to see him in action, especially since Kaiden Guhle and Arber Xhekaj are injured.
