Patrick Roy's Islanders gave the Canadiens a very pleasant surprise
The Canadiens were defeated in overtime by Patrick Roy's Islanders on Thursday night, but before the game, there was a pleasant surprise for the Canadiens and their fans.
Indeed, many fans had made the trip by bus to see Patrick Roy in action.
"200 fans, 4 buses departed early this morning at 5 a.m. to go to the New York Islanders game, hosting the Canadiens tonight at UBS Arena. It is Islanders coach Patrick Roy who is the focus of this interest." - Stéphane Turcot, TVA
The New York organization decided to mark the occasion with the national anthem sung in French. It may seem minor, but for Patrick Roy and all the French-speaking fans in the stands, it was a very thoughtful gesture!
The Canadiens acknowledged this gesture with gratitude. It's clear that there is a lot of respect between the two organizations, and Patrick Roy is certainly a significant part of that.
