The Canadiens of Montreal's latest top 5 pick, Ivan Demidov, was not present at the SKA Saint Petersburg training camp, the team he is under contract with for next season.

Despite rumors suggesting that the Russian team was shunning him, it was later revealed that he was still bothered by an injury from the MHL finals.

However, information published by the KHL's X account shows photos that reassure Canadiens fans.

Indeed, the Russian league recently released photos of Demidov actively training in the gym.

Demidov back in the KHL?

The management of the Russian and Quebec teams recently had a meeting regarding the development of the new jewel of the Canadiens. According to SKA head coach Roman Rothenberg, the two teams had a productive discussion about their respective intentions regarding Ivan Demidov. However, the topic of Demidov's immediate departure was not brought up.

«I had a one-and-a-half-hour Zoom discussion with representatives from the Montreal Canadiens. Head coach Martin St-Louis was not present, but special hockey operations advisor Vincent Lecavalier, the club president, the general manager, and all the executives were there.»

«We discussed Demidov, and everything was well addressed. It was a very positive conversation about how we will develop Ivan at SKA. There wasn't even a conversation about him leaving for Canada now.» - SKA Head Coach, Roman Rothenberg
