Jake Allen to New Jersey: It's a real joke
On Friday, the Devils acquired Jake Allen at a high cost, sending a 3rd-round, possibly 2nd-round, pick in 2025 to Montreal. For a backup goalie at the end of his career, it's quite expensive.
The Devils were so dissatisfied with the goaltending performance that they traded Vitek Vanecek and acquired Kaapo Kahkonen as well. It's a new chapter in New Jersey.
To make matters worse, we learned today that the organization has decided to keep Nico Daws with the team as well, so theoretically, there's a goaltending trio there.
Jake Allen thought he would finally have a fresh start, but he's ending up in the same situation as with the Canadiens.
Moreover, he's not even the go-to guy, as he won't be playing tonight. Kaapo Kahkonen is in the net. Hopefully, the scenario changes quickly for him because, at the moment, it's quite catastrophic.
