Today, the Montreal Canadiens announced that forward Kirby Dach will be absent from practice in order to receive treatment.

Naturally, fans were concerned and wondering whether the young center was okay.

Adding to the fans' fears, after practice, coach Martin St-Louis told reporters he wasn't sure if Dach would be available for Thursday's game against the LA Kings.

Today, Montreal Canadiens VP of Hockey Operations, Jeff Gorton, appeared on TSN690.

But what did he have to say?

Well, he provided an update on Kirby! Gorton mentioned that the center is expected to suit up tomorrow at the Bell Centre and is doing well.

Gorton said that Dach had an intense summer in terms of getting back in shape and he was taking advantage of a day off to avoid overloading himself, which is not a bad thing in itself. He's had a rough start to the season after missing a full year with a knee injury.

It is clear that it is crucial for the Canadiens not to rush Dach's return. The club's management knows his return to peak form will take time.

Gorton also noted an aspect of Dach's game he would like to see improve: his efficiency at the faceoff circle, which is only 18.8% since the start of the season.

Should he trade Alex Newhook, so that the latter can be the center of the second line and Dach can be on the wing?

To be continued, but Martin St-Louis must certainly think about it.

Fans can therefore hope for a quick return of Dach to the ice, thus avoiding an injury crisis, which would be all the more regrettable for a player who has been battling health problems for a long time.
