Jeff Gorton is still being courted, and the message isn't getting through
With the reconstruction he carried out in New York, it's no surprise that Jeff Gorton is a man in demand by NHL organizations.
Recently, it was revealed that the Columbus Blue Jackets were very interested in hiring Gorton as their general manager, but Geoff Molson reportedly put his foot down and refused to allow them to interview him.
Clearly, the Canadiens want to keep Gorton in Montreal and have no intention of letting him go, but there is now some new information.
Don Waddell was hired on Tuesday as President and GM, but it seems he might still be looking for a general manager to handle the workload, and Gorton would be his man.
According to rumors, the Blue Jackets still hope to hire Gorton.
«[...] in the latest episode of Real Kyper and Bourne, the hosts mentioned that the Blue Jackets still hope to talk to Gorton (and eventually hire him).» - DansLesCoulisses
Why do the Jackets still have hope when Molson has personally refused? Is the situation more ambiguous than it seems?
We don't know, but one thing is certain: with the hiring of Don Waddell, it would still be surprising if a new GM is hired in the short term.
