Kent Hughes about to Announce a Major Promotion for Lecavalier?
In 2022, Vincent Lecavalier was hired as a hockey operations advisor with the Canadiens.
Rumors suggest he might become an assistant to Martin St-Louis, replacing Alex Burrows, but that doesn't seem to be the direction things are heading.
Indeed, Lecavalier is gaining prominence and becoming increasingly close to Kent Hughes.
Vincent Lecavalier named assistant to Kent Hughes?
According to Max Truman, there are numerous signs pointing to this.
"He participated in the hiring process of Pascal Vincent
He was with the Canadiens' management in the Sphere in Vegas
He is the one who recommended Tanner Pearson to Kent Hughes
He had influence during the last trade deadline
He was spotted at several international U18/U20 competitions"
- Max Truman, via DLC These are not tasks typically assigned to a mere advisor.
Could Vincent Lecavalier be named as an assistant to Kent Hughes? Has it already happened and an announcement is imminent?
When he was hired, there were rumors to that effect.
"Remember that before being named an advisor, there was a rumor that Vincent Lecavalier was going to be named assistant GM
And according to my sources, the Canadiens fired the employee responsible for that leak. Will Vincent Lecavalier actually become assistant GM one day?"
We know that the former Lightning star and best friend of Martin St-Louis preferred the advisor role for family reasons, similar to what led Alex Burrows to leave his assistant coach position.
If Vincent Lecavalier is taking on more responsibilities and becoming increasingly involved with the team, it wouldn't be surprising if an announcement is made to that effect.
